Nakatomi has once again joined forces with the Wrightson Estate to bring you an exciting new project: the return of Bernie Wrightson’s long-lost coloring book, MONSTERS: Color the Creature Book!
Originally published by Bernie way back in 1974, and distributed through mail-order, this oversized 11 x 17″ coloring book featured never-before-seen illustrations of classic monsters, in Bernie’s distinctive style!
This book has been out of print for over 40 years, UNTIL NOW!
Available in a standard edition with a high-gloss cardstock cover, as well as a limited Artist Edition, with each image presented as an individual hand-printed silkscreen plate, on Strathmore Premium Smooth Ultimate White paper, suitable for all media- acrylic paint, watercolor, charcoal- whatever your artistic needs demand!
We’ve also invited Painter Extraordinaire Jason Edmiston along for the ride! Jason has done one of his classic coloring book paint-overs on the “Frankenstein” page, exclusive to this campaign as a limited edition Giclée print!

The Monsters: Color the Creature Coloring Book– Pledge $25 and get the new archive edition! Coloring book measures 11 x 17″ and features a full color glossy cardstock cover, black and white interior (Hey, it’s a coloring book)! Saddle-stitched and Printed in Canada.
T-shirt- Pledge $25 and receive this exclusive t-shirt, featuring Bernie’s art from the back of the original coloring book! Available in Unisex Small through 4X Sizes, and printed in the US on a super-soft cotton/poly blend tee. Not available outside of this project!If you require a different size than what is offered, reach out and we will do our best to accommodate!
Coloring Book- ARTIST’S EDITION- Pledge $75 for this special edition! Book measures 11×17, with each image an individual hand-printed silkscreened plate, printed on high-quality art paper, for those artists who want to really go at Bernie’s pages with any media! (Or for those of us who want to frame up each page!) This reward tier is limited to 150. Pages are glue-bound for easy removal.
“Frankenstein” 12×18 print by Jason Edmiston– Pledge $50 for the 12×18″ edition of this print, hand-numbered. Edition size determined by the pledges received! Printed in-house at the Nakatomi Print Labs, this fine-art Giclée is on 100% acid-free cotton rag 305 gsm natural watercolor stock, with archival light-safe Ultrachrome ink.
Early Bird Set!- Pledge $90 and you’ll get the standard edition of the Coloring Book, 12×18″ print, AND the T-shirt! Only 100 of these rewards are available (North American addresses only).
Early Bird MONSTER set!- Pledge $160 and you’ll receive both the regular and artist’s edition of the coloring book, the T-shirt, and an 18×24 edition of Jason’s painting, signed by the artist in a limited edition of 100 copies, exclusive to this pledge level (available for North American addresses only).
A note about Add-Ons! Kickstarter now allows Add-Ons! If you want a mix of rewards we don’t have a tier for, you’ll be able to add on extra shirts /posters /books when you process your pledge!
