MYSTERY TUBES TO INFINITY! ON SALE this TUESDAY!

MYSTERY TUBES FOR THE APOCALYPSE!

Well, the time has come again for Nakatomi to clean house, and prepare our underground lair for the coming apocalypse. We need to move all this product out of here, so we can fill the space up on food rations and ammunition, and our collection of every single episode of Mama’s Family on VHS and Betamax. (don’t ask.)

With just a few months left until the end of the world, we DUG DEEP and are offering up an amazing assortment of prints, test-sheets, and exclusives to really go out with a bang!  We’ve got about 225 tubes to go around, and we’ve never NOT had a tube sale sell out in just a few hours (or minutes in some cases) so BE READY!

Starting at 2pm CENTRAL TIME on TUESDAY the 9th, we’ll have tubes for purchase for $50 each. Each tube will have 5 prints in it-all suitable for framing. Some are considered ‘scratch/dent’ in that there’s minor printing flaws or a ‘soft’ corner, but nothing that won’t frame out.

One print in each tube will be an exclusive never-before-seen print by Tim Doyle that will never be available anywhere else! We’re going to keep the image under wraps so you won’t know what it is until you open the tube- BUT, the last few prints in this series seem to be popular!  (Warning, those links contain evidence of people flipping prints!) This print is the one that Doyle’s been the most excited about since this series began!

You are welcome to buy as many tubes as you want, but you will receive a copy of the exclusive print in each tube. One tube per order- we cannot combine shipping- as we can only fit 5 prints in each tube!

On to the goods!

Test Sheets! The first 100 or so orders will each receive a totally awesome and unique test-sheet with each order! A test sheet is like 4 posters flying at your optic nerve at ONCE! Truly a byproduct of the Silk-screen process, we run screens on scrap paper as we’re working on a project, and what you get is a random collage of color building up on a sheet of paper, until we judge that it’s ‘done’ and throw it on our stack of test sheets!  One of my favorites this time around is that one top center- Col. Hicks by Nick Derington on top of a Virgin Mary by Jacob Borshard! Lord knows Hicks is a religious figure in my life…

Chip Board prints! These heavy-stock paper prints are also byproducts of the printing process- our paper provider inserts these chipboard prints into the stacks we get for protection, and we use them as a guard when cutting the prints down. (The clamp from the printer can dent normal paper). And to get the crop marks lined up properly on the cutter, we go ahead and print the chipboard liner as part of the run.  So we end up with what is essentially a 1/1 super-rare chipboard variant of almost every print we do.  We have about 20 this time around that made the cut, and they’ll be randomly inserted into these orders!

Minty-sharp Unreal Estate prints! We had a few of these left over from the original printing that we were going to hold back for Flatstock Seattle this year, and plum forgot to put them in the package we shipped up there! So instead of waiting until next year- we’re just going to randomly insert them into the tube sale. There are a couple Glow variants of that SNPP print pictured up there, as well!

Rare variants! These three variants sold out on Nakatomi last week, but we held a few back for this! All were priced at $50 or more, and there’s 10 to go around!

Original Art by Doyle!

Even more original art!

Geez! How much are we giving away?

That’s 18 original pencil and ink drawings done by Doyle that we’re throwing into this sale! Pictured above is all the original art from Doyle’s pieces for Mondo dating back to 2009 (Robocop, Phantom of the Paradise, and Doyle’s first screenprint ever- The Wizard), art from the LOST poster project, Die Hard for Tommygood, and He-Man art for Gallery 1988 and Mattel, and art from the Texas DNC commissioned Obama portrait!  All these are the OG’s used in production of these pieces that became the sold-out screenprints!

And Finally, ONE lucky customer will get this-

Tyler Stout’s The Thing variant (2009) #46 of 65. Good condition, never been displayed- picked up from a friend of the shop who needed some cash. Sure, we COULD resell it but we’d rather it BLEW SOMEONE’S MIND when they open the tube and find this thing…er THING.

This is only a small selection of what’s going in these tubes, with plenty more surprises!

With all this awesome, your odds of striking gold are PRETTY DANG GOOD.  Please note- you are free to make requests in the ‘special instructions’ field of the check-out page, but that is not a guarantee that the request can be honored! If you order more than one tube on successive orders, say so in the order itself and we’ll do what we can to cut down on duplicates!

5 prints, $50- you can knock off gifts for 5 people all at once, letting you cruise into birthday/holiday/apocalypse season with no worries!

Please note- don’t ask for THE THING print. Just…don’t. Everyone will do it, I know, but just don’t.

These will be for sale HERE in the  Naktomi store at around 2PM CENTRAL time TUESDAY the 9th. We’re expecting heavy traffic flow, so don’t be alarmed if you experience site issues at this time.

Good Luck!

This is really cool, hope I manage to snag one of these on the day.

Good luck! The site always gets slammed for these things, so keep trying if you have problems!

Just a little note about what we’re trying to do to make the site performance better… We’ve implemented a third-party web caching service (Cloudflare) to help offload the shopping cart system. It will be serving up all images and static content rather than the real server, hopefully freeing up more cycles to handle the dynamic contents of your actual shopping carts, and the checkout process. We are also attempting to temporarily move our web server instance to a different service tier at our ecommerce service provider for the duration of the sale. Please let us know about your experience at contact@nakatomiinc.com so we can make things even better next time.

    Sold out already? 2 minutes?

  • http://www.nathanbeach.com/ Nathan Beach

haha, looks like CloudFlare did jack shit to help. I do think it’s more the shopping cart system, though. Orders are still coming in pretty consistently, 26 minutes in.

This makes me think next time we should just have a very simple “take a ticket” system with payment later, rather than having you try to do the whole checkout process in order to get a tube.

  • seths

Been trying for the last 44 min. Still no luck.

  • Chris

me too. I only want the Blade Runner print.

  • av308

Wow that was some serious traffic !!! took about 40 or so min. just to go through the whole process, mainly the checkout part. So if you’re still checking out with the item in your cart you probably got it just need to pay for it, but that might take a while.

Just done.. Took around 50 minutes, mainly because I had to register to.. d’oh, school boy error!!

  • TJ

Been trying over an hour and 15. Still no luck. Now I remember why I stopped trying to buy art prints. 85% of these will end up on eBay too.

  • Chris

After over an hour and a half I finally scored one!!! I cant wait to see the Blade Runner print. Hopefully its Deckard. Keep trying folks.

  • mike

i finally finally got 1 almost 2 solid hours of failed attempts to buy but mine finally went through!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Aspen

wow! everyone took over 45 mins to place an order… i took me 10 mins… weird

  • jiminoc

    just got mine paid

  • brad

So they sell out already? Don’t see the add to cart button. Been looking for awhile.

  • Anonymous

I made it! Almost took me an hour, but I got my tube! :)

It looks like they’re sold out. Now when you click on the link, you go to the store home page.

  • brad

Sucks. I was looking the add to cart button about an hour ago.

  • vonlavert

Insanely disappointed! Tried for about an hour and a half on a T1 line. Finally, I had to go to a meeting. I guess I will have to go to ebay for the Blade Runner print. Very frustrating when it is sitting in your cart and you just keep getting errors and nonsense form the site. Great Idea for a sale just GRRRRRRRR!!!!!
