Not to O.D. on Twin Peaks like Laura Palmer on Bobby Briggs’ coke…BUT- I stumbled across this on my Twin Peaks research the other day, and can’t believe such at thing A- Existed, and B- I didn’t know about it until now-

Man, those are some disturbing Muppets.

twin peaks

Black Cat Bones in Puebla, Mexico is shaping up to be a really cool coffee shop/ art space.  In their first month they put up an art show of B-movie screenprint posters made up almost exclusively of prints that I art directed during my employment at LOCAL MOVIE THEATER  (you are very welcome, Black Cat Bones!) and for October they’re doing a 20th anniversary tribute to my favorite TV show- Twin Peaks.  Artists from all over the world are contributing, and ‘En Los Arboles (In the Trees)’ is ours!

Measuring 12×24 this 4 color print is limited to 100 copies worldwide, and is signed by the artist.  We’re sending a bunch down to the gallery in Mexico, but if you’re not in that part of the hemisphere, you can pick one up right now in the ART PRINTS section of the Nakatomi store!

For those of you who haven’t experienced the BEST SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION, check this out-  (and, read along w/ the Spanish subtitles, ’cause that’s where we got the title of this piece!)

Yeah, that was broadcast TV in the late 80’s.  Now it’s all reality show snooze fests and police procedurals.  (At least I’ve got my Mad Men!)

The guy singing that song was REALLY singing that song.  His name is Jimmy Scott, and he’s an interesting story by himself.  Check out his WIKI to learn what Kallmann’s syndrome syndrome can do for your musical career.

All of this is ancillary to the print, but hey…it’s  a big weird world out there- go get some damn fine coffee and damn fine pie.

Look HERE.

Even though Wizard Comics is keeping the image secret, I’ll give you exactly ONE guess as to what the cover to this comic book will be.

Now, Wizard selling this thing at 30 bux?  Maybe they should kick some of that our way for trying to make us draw like Bart Sears in the 90’s w/ their ‘Brutes and Babes’ column.  I’m coming for you, Gareb Shamus.

According to Paul Pope’s twitter feed (and a quick Wiki search) last Friday would have been the 92nd birthday of the one man more responsible for what we know as popular culture than anyone else in the world- Jack ‘King’ Kirby.

Oddly enough, I JUST finished reading his Demon Omnibus that was published by DC a while back- and as fate would have it, I had some extra space on a print we were working on, and the color scheme used was JUST RIGHT-

the demon

What are we doing w/ these, you ask?  Free art.  There’s 100 of these 6″ x 24″ 4 color prints, and we’re throwing ‘em in w/ every order to spread the Kirby love.  Heck, you don’t even have to place an order if you want one- swing on by the print shop, or send a SAST (Self Addressed , Stamped Tube) to Nakatomi HQ, and we’ll send one of these right back to you while supplies last.  Just make sure you include enough postage for a 1lb priority mail shipment for it to get back to you!

PLEASE NOTE- We can only ship these freebie posters with other poster orders (unless you send a tube!).  If you order a sticker set or a t-shirt pick POSTER shipping, so we can’t  get it in there all together in a tube.

You want the address?  Shoot us a contact email from the form below!

In other news…what the heck is wrong w/ my camera?  That picture sucks!  Geez, I guess you really shouldn’t  take time lapse photos from within the microwave.  (don’t ask.)

What did we spend all last week cooking up in the Nakatomi Print Labs?

in the studio

14 screens

9 colors

2 warriors

2 ponies

and only 40 available-

32-dither

In what was definitely the most intensive print session I’ve ever been a part of, ‘Clans of the Great Pony Rebellion: Clan Blossom and Clan Cotton Candy’ are now birthed into the world.

Each SEVEN color print measures 18×25 and has hand-finishing detail and is signed and numbered by the artist, Jacob Borshard who brought us last month’s TIMES TABLE print.

Part of his 80’s Ukiyo-e art series, this is the first in that set to get the silkscreen treatment, with the rest to follow soon!

The detail on this set is just stunning- take a look at this pic of the actual print-

Cotton Candy Detail

The color overlays, the mezzotint halftone patterns, this is just the start of what we’re getting into here at Nakatomi Print Labs!

Go to our Flickr set to see crazy big detail shots of the printing and prints!

These prints are available individually or as a set in the ART PRINTS section of the Nakatomi store.
