When I’m not running Nakatomi, I draw comic books.  Right now, I’m drawing The Intergalactic Nemesis.  First issue is up for free HERE.

For an upcoming issue, I need to draw a really cool looking Black Dude.  Like Shaft meets Roadblock from G.I. Joe.  So, what’s a white-boy to do?  Google image search.

What did I find?

Do it.  Google image search ‘Cool Black Dude’ with no filters.  What’s the first image?  This-

black_dude_weird

It’s official.  The internet is broken.  The most offensive part?  Shaft isn’t even on the first page of results.  And- that dude looks better than me wearing a children’s beach/sandbox  play set.

So, Peter Sciretta over at SlashFilm sent me this yesterday-

not your purse

He’s in Toronto at the TIFF film festival, and saw this at a T-shirt shop.  Now, I’m not the hardest guy in the world to track down.  If you want to make shirts with our art on it, you could at least give me an email. Considering every other shirt on that rack is either a straight rip, or a pale imitation of a T-shirt Hell design,  I guess we’re in good company.

Although, I’m probably the last guy in the world to complain about people ripping off t-shirt designs- before starting Nakatomi, it was my job to make unlicensed shirts from movie/tv properties for a similar store.  I guess it’s karma.  We’re not going to pursue it, but damn guys…you could at least send me a t-shirt.

That’s my purse!  I don’t know you!

Tong Poster in Front

Kevin Tong, fresh off his (almost sold out) collab w/ Tim Doyle- “The Sea Also Rises” kicks off this season of the Nakatomi Invitational!

“Atlas-Tron” is an 18×24 5 color silkscreen print, signed and numbered by the artist and printed in-house here at the Nakatomi Print Labs.

The shirt is a 4 color 100% cotton Tee, available in Unisex and Women’s cut.

Like all Season 2 Nakatomi Invitational releases, this shirt and poster are only available during the month of release, or when 100 copies are sold, whichever comes first. This print will ship within 2-3 weeks of the sale period’s end.

The Print is $30, Shirt is $20, or the set for $40!

The “Atlas Tron” shirts and prints are available as a set, or individually in the Nakatomi Invitational section of the store!  And remember, if you pick up a Subscription to the Invitational season 2, this is included!

Spacesick- artist/designer of the future/past

Nick Derington- Lead Animator ‘A Scanner, Darkly’

Jim Mahfood- Indie Comic Book Rabble-rouser

Jay Ryan – God

This time around, we gave each artist the general theme of ‘Robots’.  All the art is in, and you all are in for some great surprises over the next few months!

There will be only 10 subscriptions sold.

When you purchase a Subscription, you will get-

-The Nakatomi Invitational shirt and poster package once a month for the next 8 months.
- A ‘Mystery Tube’ during the run that will include 4 prints and a shirt (that you don’t already have!)
- ‘The Vaults of Nakatomi’- if Nakatomi releases a print, and it sells out, and you miss out- just email and we’ll sell you one. We always keep 10 prints back in the vault, and we’re giving you the keys.

The subscriptions are for ALL 8 posters and shirt sets for the same price as last year’s 6 print set- $300.

And this time around, all prints and shirts are limited to JUST 100 copies each.  This Invitational Season, we have our own print shop, and ALL ART is in hand and ready to print, so the wait for your tube will be significantly reduced.

Kevin Tong’s print and shirt set is up FIRST, and is available NOW in the ‘Invitational‘ part of the Store!

Thank you Nakatomi Peoples!

Not specifically Nakatomi related, BUT-

If you were paying attention to Doyle’s Flickr stream a while back, you have already seen these-

And-

These silkscreen prints were commissioned by Austin over at the new site, Pandorasprints.com a while back, and starting TUESDAY at NOON, they will finally be for sale!

Here’s some background info from Doyle-

“Months back when ‘Change Into a Truck’ blew up into the meme-of-the-month, I had a phone call with Jermaine Rogers who was doing a print for me on Nakatomi at the time.  And Jermaine said in his deep, slow, baritone “You should do Change into a Gun…immediately.”  It’s hard to resist a voice that sounds like a chain smoking James Earl Jones, but I filed it away in the ‘must do in the near future’ category.  Life and other projects intervened,  and it wasn’t until Austin Ferdinand approached me about doing an exclusive for Pandora’s Prints that the concept resurfaced. Austin leaped at the idea, and now here we are!  If this poster had a Tech Spec, it would read ‘Consensus through Tyranny’.”

Go get em!  Austin also has a bunch of long sold-out Nakatomi Prints up for sale there as well, like the Bill Murray and Change into a Truck!  Make sure you tell ‘em Nakatomi sent ya!

I know I’m tired of typing the word ‘breast’ and getting info on mammograms.  Are you with me?  Guys?

Sigh.

Go HERE to check out DudeGoogle.  It’s Google for Dudes.  Best part- the theme song.  Or the Machine Gun SFX as you type something into the search.
